Envy happens

And apparently tons of “older” MtF trans folk feel envy for those who have been lucky enough to be able to transition at a younger age.

A person who realizes he is a girl at a early age now has the option to use hormone blockers to delay the rise of secondary male characteristics… and even those who did not have that chance, but transition in the early twenties… have great chance to become beautiful girls with little or no traces of their old maleness in their bodies…

So why the envy? Some people had to make sacrifices  in order to increase visibility for the trans issues. Some people had to fight hard. Some people died in the way. Some people were hated.

What now? The road is still bumpy, but much cleaner, there are still issues, but they ARE luckier now, because of the hard sufferings of their predecessors.

Of course there will always be envy, envy of what we cannot be. But letting the envy become hatred is a step that should never be taken.

Also, admiration is not to be confused with envy.

Good luck!

Another sides…

Today I Learnt: Doors also have two sides. The one you face when you want to get in, and the one you face when you want to get out.

Many people spend their lives staring at the side of “I want to get out of the closet”. Best of luck for them.

Perhaps one day, they will get to see the other side of the door and find a new, motivating and full of possibilities, life.

Rebis, the alchemical hermaphrodite

What a strange title for the first “serious” post.

But also strangely adequate.

Gender issues have been around for ages, no matter what. The ancient Greece has lots of examples. The most prominent might be the myth of Hermaphroditus. A young man cursed to become of both genders. The cursed fountain of Salmacis that apparently feminized every man who drank from its waters…

And of course, medieval Alchemy. Rebis is just one of the many symbols in Alchemy, where two forces, masculinity and feminity meet and join into one symbol of unification, of perfection, the Alchemical Hermaphrodite, the Rebis.

Found in many places, the rebis appears on many alchemical texts, as one of the steps of whatever mistery the alchemists tried to unravel.

Being a mistery itself, Alchemy has passed to the land of myth, though it is remarkable that those who practiced alchemy, set the precedents that would later develop into chemistry. And chemistry itself, once became part of the scientific method, did become a tool at the service of humankind.

Thanks to chemistry, for instance and within the context of gender, now there exist plenty of hormonal treatments that allow any transgender person to become at ease with themselves, their bodies slowly changing to match that of the gender they belong, even if during the process, like the Ancient Alchemists thought, they become, albeit temporarily, the rebis, the alchemical hermaphrodite, a step prior to the perfection the transgenders in treatment seek to achieve.

Also, as the picture ilustrates, a rebis has two faces. Like a coin. Like lots of people around the world.

The Rebis

Hello World!

So I say.

A good friend of mine inspired me to make a blog of my own… though I still don’t know which topics will be around here.

Topic? Rambling

Purpose? Existance.

Objective? Get the crazy shit out of my head. Some people call it “blogging”…

Destination? The future.

For how long? This is a good one. Until I die, or get bored of writing. That is the fairest answer I can give. And I am sure I will get bored first.
